LA Offers Curbside Composting

Filed under: activism — admin @ 10:24 pm

I wish our community offered this.  We compost as much as possible.  We have worms in our basement eating most of it and we bury some in the back pile, too.  I’d love to have the city compost it.  Just throw it in the waste and go.  They even give you a kitchen compost pail.  Other cities around the country already do this, too.  San Francisco, Portland, Minneapolis, soon Boulder.

This is a really great idea. I don’t know why more places haven’t done this. Of course, we don’t even have regular recycling in our area, so I don’t think this will be happening soon…

Seattle started this program a few years ago. It has turned me into a lazy home composter, as it’s just so much easier to toss it out into the city bin and have it go away every week with the yard waste.

I like your site! I have the same (almost) Theme for my blog’s layout, coincidentally. Mine is about gardening in the parking strip, I’m hoping more people will colonize this area and green up our cities!

Cheers,

Karen
