Giveaway Time: The Green Eaters Book and Organic Tote Bag
Who doesn’t like FREE STUFF? Free GREEN stuff at that! I know I do. So here’s what we’re going to do - after this brilliant, cleverly written article about Chapter One Organics, I’m going to be giving away The Green Eaters Gift Bundle.
Chapter One Organics is primarily a clothing company for children…no, they don’t employ children, far from it. The clothing is all made here in the good ole US of A. They employ women who have trouble obtaining work to make their goods. So you’re not only supporting something sustainable like buying organic cotton clothing for your kids, you’re supporting a sustainable paycheck for some deserving sole.
They have a nice selection of cool clothes for tots on their site ready for purchase or if you want to see the merch in person - head over to this section and they may be available in your area. I think that it is very important to vote with your dollars. Organic cotton is so much better for everyone - the land, the air, the streams, the earth, and the person wearing it. It’s soft and cuddly and not full of pesticides.
Now let’s talk about The Green Eaters. Rather than reinventing the wheel, this is what the site has to say:
“A fun and heart warming picture book for babies and young children that tells the story of five farm animal friends who dream of a better life outside of Dreary Day factory farm.
They dream of a better future and one day they are moved to an organic farm. They are amazed and delighted by what they find at The Green Eaters Farm. They realize this new home is where their dream comes true!
A fun and friendly way to introduce the importance of organic living to children!”
The founder of Chapter One Organics, Jennifer Murphy, penned this lovely childrens book. For every book purchased, a tree will also be planted. So I suggest buying enough to replant a forest. It’s a perfect gift for: your kids, your friends kids, a baby shower, a donation to a library, Christmas, Easter, Hanukka, Eid, Yom Kipur, Canada Day, Boxing Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Arbor Day…well you get the point!

In all due honesty, I never thought I would be growing a garden. I am amazed at how fun it has been watching the tomatoes come up and the chili peppers and radishes flourish. To be able to sustain my family on fresh veggies this year has been my goal, and I am happy to be doing just that!
My latest green goal: stop buying so many magazines. Thx for the great giveaway!
I never knew it was so easy, or tasteful to go green. Our household is vegetarian, so that cuts down on ALOT of greenhouse gasses, and we also grow some of own produce. It just ran across my mind that by growing our food we are avoiding trips to the grocery store cutting down the miles we are putting on our car.

PS- your blog template is really neat! I need to get around to changing mine-
The changes my family and I are making evolve every day. Yesterday, I found a brand of recycled toilet paper and paper towel at my normal grocery store that’s cheaper than what I used to buy, so we will use that from now on. We use reusable shopping bags, both for groceries and mall shopping, we have cut back driving significantly, we no longer use disposables like paper plates and plastic utensils…we are trying every day to be more conscious of our choices and be more green.
I am an avid recycler- I make sure everything that can be reused or recycled in our house is. Instead of throwing things out I donate them to charity. Thank you for the giveaway!
Recyle our newspapers— some of our used magazines go to the laundromat for others to read.
Shop at garage sales.
Whenever a light bulb goes out in my place, I put in an energy saving florescent. Also, I use community car sharing and public transit (I haven’t owned a car in almost a decade). This gas crisis is considerably less painful, as a result.
Best of all, if I win the prize, you wouldn’t have to waste energy be shipping it to me because you could hand it to me over lunch.
This summer I joined an organic CSA. Not only am I supporting local farmers, but I also get fresh and delicious produce weekly! Fortunately I am a vegetarian and LOVE my veggies =D
Hi! I’m very excited to say that at 48 I’ve become a vegan! My 7yr old grandson has asked me a lot of questions and is trying ‘meat free’. We also take long walks thru the woods where we pick up trash to recycle while we talk about how trash hurts all of the wildlife. He then asked for a job w/ our complex manager to pick up trash for $2 a bag, he even recycles that when he can! My daughters are more ‘eco friendly’ now. Just shows it’s never to early or late to learn to love our earth
I use a reel mower, rather than a gas-powered or electric mower, and have converted already much of my yard from grass to native groundcover, with plans to put in a vegetable garden and replace the rest of the lawn.
The biggest change I want to make, and I am embarrassed that I haven’t yet, is to start composting. I thought by recycling I was doing so good, so I was distressed to learn how much methane is produced by organic substances that are thrown away.
we have started to recycle an to cook in larger batchs so we dont waste electrcity,my husband was laid off so we have been cutting back a lot, growing what we can an walking an eating at home an not going out at all,you do what you have too when you need too,its hard with kids
Recycle, grow our own veggies in big buckets…we live in an apartment…and this is a great way to grow, use reusable containers, talk to the kids about what THEY can do and do things together.
THANKS
we recycle everything. changed all our light bulbs in the house to energy saving. plus we reuse paper as much as we can.
I recycle most everything I can. I always share my magazines with my family and then recycle them when done. My recycle trash bin is always more full than the regular trash. Next step is a compost bin for our vegetable garden to get rid of more kitchen waste.
I compost and grow my own herbs. I hate to buy any. I also have been teaching my kids the use of herbs and wildflowers in healing and my ten year old can recognize many invasives on our walks.
The change I have made recently is I have started composting.
We cancelled our newspaper subscription and read it online instead. We’ve also been giving and getting as many things through Freecycle as possible.
I adopted a vegan lifestyle. I also started plugging everything into power strips and shutting them off when they are not in use. The ones that are not on power strips (the microwave) we only plug in while we use it. Coversion to energy efficient bulbs and lowering the temperature on the water heater have brought the utility bill down as well.
I have turned down my AC during the day and turn it off at night. I also am using reusable grocery bags and I have stopped driving when it is not absolutely necessary. Right now, I’m going on almost two weeks with only purchasing 2 gallons of gas! That is 2 gallons, not 2 tanks!
We joined a CSA, our AC is set at 76, we dont use paper towels anymore(super hard to give up) and my husband is now a SAHD so no driving for him.
I use cloth diapers and cloth wipes for my newborn baby. We also just started composting.
I am trying to do more recycling and waste management.

I have made alot of changes, but i’d like to compost and dry my clothes outside. 2 things apqrtment living won’t easily allow me to do! you should come check out my giveaway at my blog! fun stuff to be had!
Well, I have been signing up to contests through the net rather than snail mail(lol), saving money and paper. I have also be re using the water bottles we have rather than troughing them in the trash and buying more. I have been taking recycle items to the recycle bins instead of through them away…and most importantly, I have been teaching our children the effects of progress and what it can lead to for their future.
Great giveaway!!!
I never throw anything away without careful consideration of any possible re-use or re-purpose.
Thanks for the great contest!
I have stopped printing so many things at work unless it is absolutely necessary. I make people share printouts in my meetings. Every single package is getting recycled.
I’ve been doing a lot lately, using natural cleaners like vinegar and baking soda, composting, using only cloth bags at the store. The hardest thing to do, which many of us, myself included, overlook is buying less stuff. So much fuel and resources go into making and transporting goods, so the less you have to buy the better. Thanks for sharing!
we have made our biggest change, my husband has been eating totally healthy and organic since being diagnosed with a rare blood disorder and he has been doing much better
Wer’re very Green, grow an organtic garden and reuse .If we really think we can reuse most things and stop all this waste. Count me in to win this fun book
