Do The Green Thing: Hug Someone Today
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone out there. It’s chilly out there in many parts of the world, so turn down the thermostat and turn up the heat. The “Green Thing” from DoTheGreenThing.com this month is body heat. Grab a partner and snuggle, cuddle, or whatever. You can save a lot of energy (and money) by turning down the thermostat a degree or two.
I’m starting a new trend in my own home this winter – put on a scarf in the house. I find that if you keep your neck (and carotid artery) nice and toasty with a scarf, the rest of you will feel very warm. My wife kinda thought I was nuts for a couple weeks…until I brought her home a nice scarf a la Brigit on It’s Not Easy Being Green. Now when I get home from work she magically has a scarf on and is usually all smiles. I told her we’re bring the UK trend to the States.
Heating is somewhere in the realm of 60% of your household energy usage. Adjusting your thermostat (programmable, of course) just 1 degree can result in somewhat significant savings. Maybe you want to head over to Crunchy Chicken for the Freeze Yer Buns Challenge. Then once you turn down the furnace, turn up the heat and huddle for warmth like penguins do (another racy video from DoTheGreenThing).
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Its also nice when both the people hugging have a fever. The above average body temp creates a nice feedback loop that heats up the bed until the nyquil kicks in and the fever breaks. Helps to abate the chills. When life hands you lemons make lemonade right?
